Climate Change : Biodiversity
Climate change is having a dramatic effect on biodiversity around the world, and it is estimated that up to one million species are at risk of extinction as a result of global warming. Biodiversity plays an important role in sustaining life on Earth, providing services that are vital to humans, yet climate change is having a devastating impact on these species and habitats.
The biggest threat to biodiversity from climate change is rising temperatures. As temperatures increase, species are being forced to move to more suitable habitats, or are unable to adapt fast enough to survive in their current environment. It is estimated that climate change could cause a 50% decline in species diversity over the next century. This threatens the stability of entire ecosystems, as the loss of certain species
